Chapter Eight: In Which Blue Saves The World

After dispatching Insector, Blue heeds Dr. Disc's words and rushes to Baba Village. He finds it dark, desolate, and without a soul around, save for Dr. Disc and his time machine. Dr. Disc has grave news to impart: it seems that the brothers Zero and Zeke have finished construction of their ultimate weapon.

The skull motif really pulls it together

We're not continents; why are we worried?

But before Disc can explain too much, the Death Gaia fires: a direct blow on his time machine.

And it explodes

On the brink of death, Dr. Disc can only tell Blue to travel 20 years into the past.

...

Blue complies, using his personal time machine to go to Baba Village of the past. It's a much more idyllic scene; the townspeople are all in a good mood.

Wish his sons would do the same

While exploring Baba Village, Blue finds what is, in the present, Nick D.'s orphanage. In the past, it's run by an old woman called Mama. That, of course, doesn't mean that some familiar faces aren't around.

We talking about the same guy?

He must have dyed his hair

Nick D., being Nick D., challenges Blue. Although he's much better than he is in the present, Nick D. still loses and begs Blue not to tell anyone. Blue says nothing, instead only chuckling to himself over how many times this kid is gonna lose in the future, and continues on.

I am rather dashing

At the far end of Baba Village, Blue finds Dr. Zero Sr. and his two sons. Of course, none of them recognize him (how would they?).

I'm being wary already

Blue takes this as the perfect opportunity to infiltrate the Battleship. He finds that aside from himself and the Zero family, there's nobody else on board - it's entirely staffed by Robopon.

I don't trust you either, Zero

He makes his way to the engine room and finds that he's not the first one there.

I thought you was a toad. I mean, dead.

Disc warps away in his time machine and Blue reads the note that he left. Apparently, due to time traveling, the Disc he saw was a Disc from a time before he died, which almost makes sense. The note goes on to say how to disable the Battleship.

Wait, he has a first name?

As Blue reads this, Dr. Zero Sr. tests out the weaponry on his ship by firing on Baba Village.

The WHOLE VILLAGE explodes

Blue gathers his resolve and pushes the big red button in front of him. It triggers the bomb Disc set in the engines.

They, too, explode

Dr. Zero Sr. runs in, a little perturbed, and angrily demands that Blue tell him why the hell he blew up his ship.

B-4

Blue doesn't give an answer, and Dr. Zero Sr. storms out to evacuate. Blue needs not do such mundane things; he can just time-travel out of the sinking ship! He does so, and winds up on the rebuilt Battleship in the present. Now staffed entirely by Robopon, Blue commandeers it to take him to the Death Gaia. Blue finds his way through the ship's winding hallways and eventually finds both Zero and Zeke.

Screw you too, Zero

Zeke challenges Blue, but the outcome is a foregone conclusion.

Next thing you know, he'll be yelling "Crawling in my skin"

With Zeke beaten, Zero activates the ship's self-destruct.

You care so much about me

Zero and Zeke take off, and once more, Blue must use his time machine to escape.

Then Death Gaia explodes

Blue arrives yet again in Baba Village of the past. He approaches the Zero residence, and hears voices.

Ominous

Oh sh-

Blue enters the house and finds Dr. Zero Sr., Zero, Zeke, and Zero and Zeke as children. Dr. Zero Sr. announces that they will fight in the Robopon Graveyard and leaves. Blue follows. At the Robopon Graveyard, Zero challenges him first, putting the title of Legend0 on the line. Blue wins handily, making this the second time Zero's been defeated by him.

From hero to zero

Dr. Zero Sr. steps up next and reveals why he chose the Robopon Graveyard as the scene for their battle. Apparently, the souls of dead Robopon wander the graveyard.

This could be bad

Their match is long, and for a while, they seem equally-matched. But eventually Blue pulls out ahead. Defeated, Dr. Zero begins waxing philosophical.

Thankfully

Zero Sr., Zero, and Zeke all enter their time machine and escape to another era to rebuild their empire, leaving the child Zero and Zeke in their own time. But Blue could care less at the moment; he just wants to take some time to rest...
